Predict The Thrill

Our Predictive Maintenance services can be summarized in the three categories below. Our hope is to de-mystify the use of modelling/simulation & machine learning and show how it can provide value for both small and large attraction venues as well as ride manufacturers.

SIMULATION & TOOLS DEVELOPMENT

  • We help build additional capabilities into the traditional model based design approach in order to enable quicker speed to market, better quality, and lower cost products.

  • An example of this would be in the development of a new prototype attraction. The use of modelling & simulation in the early stages of the design process will allow for fewer and better posed physical prototypes.

ATTRACTION AVAILABILITY WITH DIAGNOSTICS & ANALYTICS

  • We help you deploy model based sensing capabilities (aka Virtual Sensors) that will create virtual parameters for on-line diagnostics and improvement of fault tolerance. We also assist with the development of methods to provide on-board and remote condition monitoring of complex attraction systems.

  • The first step in this process is identifying the causes of reduced attraction availability and then observing the recoverable & un-recoverable performance and component life. Once these details are known, we can develop health indicators as well as control/mechanical system adjustments based on these indicators. This will also allow for a more proactive approach to attraction maintenance.

  • A good example of this would be a virtual model for the lift system of a roller coaster. If a lift chain or gearbox were to break unexpectedly, this would potentially cause significant downtime and guest dissatisfaction. A combination of physics & data based models could be created for the critical components in the system (i.e. motor, gearbox, bearings, roller chain, lubrication, etc...) with the goal of developing health indicators that would allow you to better predict a future failure in advance. This would give you time to order long lead parts and schedule the appropriate maintenance.

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

  • We are constantly working on the development of new physics informed machine learning diagnostics, condition monitoring techniques, and control algorithms to better improve attraction maintenance and design.

Feel free to contact us anytime if you ever have any questions! We would love to help your business use engineering modelling, simulation, and machine learning to develop and improve your attractions!
